Both an economics expert and a computer science expert 
testified Tuesday that Microsoft has helped the Java 
movement by giving developers choice, enhancing the 
performance of the technology, and creating healthy 
competition. 
 
Both testimonies, on Microsoft's behalf, were attempts to 
refute Sun Microsystems' argument that the success of its 
Java programming language is dependent on 100 pure 
implementations that insure cross-platform compatibility.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Jerry 
Hausman testified Tuesday afternoon in court on Microsoft's 
behalf, following a morning session that had Microsoft 
senior vice president Bob Muglia on the stand for more than 
two hours.  
 
Peter Lee, a Java developer and computer science professor 
at Pittsburgh-based Carnegie Mellon University, also took 
the stand in Microsoft's defense.

attorney Tom Burt said he was satisfied with the testimony
